Drug and alcohol abuse among employees results in higher accident rates, increased absenteeism, lowered productivity and increased conflict/interpersonal violence. Drug testing is a viable tool but recent OSHA statements indicate a narrowing of options. “For Cause” testing (with adequate training) is the effective and defensible approach for employers.

Mr. Prince has consulted on numerous cases in a variety of industries. He specializes in cases where employees are represented by unions or government contracts. He has provided training and consultation to companies whose employees have been members of the ILWU, IBEW, Teamsters, AFSCME, IUOE and SEIU. His clients also include City, State and Federal agencies.

Mr. Prince is an adjunct professor of psychology at Los Angeles City College where he has instructed in the Drug and Alcohol Studies Program since 1988. He served as a reserve officer with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) Unit from 1986 through 2011. He was an instructor with the DRE program and also instructed with the Department’s Narcotics School, 11550 Class and other specialized trainings.
